Converge Northeast held its 2009 Celebration of Ministry on Saturday, October 24th, 2009 at Elim Park Baptist Home in Cheshire, CT. Trustee Board Vice Chairman and Pastor of Beraca Baptist in Brooklyn, Willie Jean Pierre and his wife, Cacheta were our meeting co-hosts. Former CNE Pastor Ken Campbell and his wife Cathy, were our keynote speakers. Cathy is connected to Joni and Friends and Ken is a doctoral candidate whose thesis concerns working with marginalized people. The theme of their message was "Inside Out".
At Pastor Jean Pierre’s invitation, Brooklyn Tabernacle Choir soloist Paige Strackman joined us to perform special music. After a wonderful lunch, provided by the staff at Elim Park, Focus Groups were led by teams of experts on the following subjects: Antioch School, Generosity, Strategic Planning and ReTool Kit, Connecting through Mentoring, Coping with Burnout for Women, Community Outreach, and Beyond Blame - Reaching the Gay Community With Healing and Hope. These were well received.
During the business period, the budget was passed and a motion was made and approved to establish protocol and procedures for Lakeside Christian Camp by-laws. These changes allow for a multi-denominational Board at the camp.
The meeting was a time of important business and fellowship for the delegates and friends of the Conference. The 2010 meeting date will be posted here in the future. | | |
